Marie Vondersitt

Marie Vondersitt, age 82, of Calmar, Iowa, died on Friday, December 23, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN following a sudden illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the church. Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Marie Helen Vondersitt was born on August 14, 1923 the daughter of Anton and Emma (Yirkovsky) Vondersitt in Calmar, Iowa. Marie attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and graduated from Calmar High School. Marie worked for Bucheit Produce and for Sonny Meyer’s Grocery Store in Calmar, candling eggs. Marie loved children and did daycare in her home for many area families. Marie enjoyed latch hooking, doing crafts, playing cards and visiting with friends. Marie was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Marie’s survivors include her brother-in-law: Felix Huinker, Lancaster, CA. Three nieces: Carole Jean (Tom) Stevenson, Quartz City, CA; Mae Jean (Ron) Becker, Ossian, IA and Ruby Helgerson, Decorah, IA. Two nephews: Lanny Jo (Charlotte) Huinker, Memphis, TN and Tim (Deb) Vondersitt, Calmar, IA. Seven great nieces and nephews and eight great great nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister: Ruth Huinker. Two brothers: Joe and Don Vondersitt.
