Marian Brynsaas

Marian Brynsaas, age 89, of Decorah, IA, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, at WinnMed Hospital, Decorah, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street, Decorah, IA with Rev. Peter Kowitz presiding. The burial will follow at the Phelps cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at the church Tuesday morning. Marian was born July 3, 1934, to Edwin and Leona (Borseth) Brynsaas at home. She was baptized and confirmed at Decorah Lutheran Church where she was a lifetime member. She attended grade school at 3 different country schools in Glenwood Township. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1952. She started working for Bolson’s Hatchery and Feed that fall and worked for them until they closed. She then worked for the Decorah Bakery. She also spent time helping some senior citizens keeping them company. Marian was very involved in church activities – circle, WELCA, Bible School, Sunday School, working in the church library, helping with the church newsletter, and church work and do days. She also enjoyed many day trips and mini vacations with Marguerite “Babe” Lepa. Marian is survived by her sister, LaVerne Ramsey and brother, Wesley Brynsaas; Nieces Rosalyn Ramsey, Beverly (Ramsey) Nelson, Tlisa (Brynsaas) Girlamo, Carrie (Brynsaas) Barglof and Amy Brynsaas and nephew, David Ramsey; grandnieces Rachel (Ramsey) Walker, Addison Barglof, Angel Barglof Jasmine Haley; grandnephews Ryan Ramsey, Bennett Barglof, Brenten (Erin) Barglof, Christopher (Sephora Rodriquez) Girlamo, Benjamin Girlamo, and Javon Haley; great grandnephews, Hunter Barglof, Dexter Walker and Eli Walker; great grandnieces Sophia Rose Rodriquez-Girlamo, Myka Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Leona (Borseth) Brynsaas, brothers Ronald Brynsaas, Roger Brynsaas, brother-in-law, Raymond Ramsey, sisters-in-law Susan (Rouster) Brynsaas, Beatrice (Wellman) Brynsaas, Lucille (James) Brynsaas, nephew, Ronald D. Ramsey and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
