Obituary

Margie Hageman, age 83, of Ossian, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Ossian Care Center in Ossian, Iowa. 

Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 420 E. Main St., Ossian, IA 52161, with Rev. Nicholas Radloff presiding. Burial to follow at the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday morning. 

Margie Ann (Halbur) Hageman was born on the family farm near Lawler, Iowa on June 11, 1943, the daughter of Nicholas and Teresa (Kruse) Halbur. She received her grade school education at Utica #8 Country School, followed by high school at Lawler High School. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at Assumption Catholic Church, Little Turkey, Iowa.

On June 7, 1961, she was united in marriage to Donald A. Hageman at Assumption Catholic Church, Little Turkey, Iowa. They became the parents of two children, Donald, Jr. and Laura.

Margie was employed at Ossian State Bank and Security State Bank until her retirement in 2008. She was a member of St. Francis De Sales parish and rosary society, as well as serving as a treasurer of the rosary society for several years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as well as crocheting, reading, and working word search puzzles.

Survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald A. Hageman of Ossian; children: Don J. (Kathy) Hageman of Ossian, and Laura (Steve) Matt of Clermont; grandchildren: Scott (Kelsey) Hageman of Polk City, Iowa, Paul Hageman of Mount Vernon, Iowa, Sarah (Jeremy Tempkin) Matt of Brentwood, California; and great-granddaughter, Abigail Hageman. Also survived by her brother, Vernon (Pat) Halbur; sister-in-law: Audrey Herold; and several nieces and nephews.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Teresa Halbur; sister, Bernice Halbur; father- and mother-in-law, Joe G. and Irma (Moellers) Hageman; brothers-in-law, Leonard (Marilyn) Hageman, Jerry Herold; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Hageman in childhood.
