Margaret Ann Hovden, age 77, of Ridgeway, Iowa, died on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at the Franciscan Skemp Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Peace Lutheran Church, 745 County Street, Ridgeway, IA, with Rev. Joelle Colville presiding. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery, Ridgeway, IA. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday, April 19, 2013, and also after 9:30 a.m., Saturday at the Peace Lutheran Church, 745 County Street, Ridgway, IA. Margaret Ann (Albertson) Hovden was born on March 2, 1936, the daughter of Arthur and Alnora (Magnus) Albertson on the family farm near Calmar, Iowa. Margaret Ann attended Sumner Country School #1 and graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1954. She worked at Luther College from 1960-1971. She was united in marriage to Ollie Hovden on August 1, 1971, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, Iowa. Margaret Ann cooked at the Cliff House, made lefsa at home for K & S Grocery Store and made wedding cakes for area weddings. She also worked for ten years at the Fireman’s Inn in Ridgeway on Friday nights. Margaret Ann was an active member of the Peace Lutheran Church, ladies circle and WELCA. She enjoyed baking, cooking, reading, doing embroidery, and watching the food network. She loved family get-togethers and visiting with family and friends. One of her proudest moments was to become a Grandmother. Margaret Ann is survived by her two sons: Gaylen (Jody) Hovden, Calmar, IA, and Lorne (fiancé, Alyssa Hesley) Hovden, Calmar, IA. Two grandchildren: Emily Jo and Ayden Hovden. Two sisters: Deanna (Kenneth) Severson, Rochester, MN, and Sonia (Alan) Olson, Warrens, WI, along with one niece and three nephews. Margaret Ann was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur and Alnora (Magnus) Albertson. Her husband: Ollie Hovden on Sept. 15, 1998. The family would like to extend a special thank you for all that have taken care of Margaret Ann over the years. Especially to the North East Iowa Transit van, the Dialysis Unit in Decorah, and the Intensive Care Unit at Franciscan Skemp for all their outstanding care. An additional thank you goes out to all family and friends that have visited and taken Margaret Ann to her appointments over the years, especially Agnes Soukup.
