Margaret Halse

Margaret Halse, age 59, of Ossian, IA, died Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse WI. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the First Lutheran Church, 604 West Broadway with Rev. Chad Huebner presiding. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 on Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Schluter - Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning.     Margaret Jean (Dotzler) Halse was born on May 23, 1957, the daughter of Edward and Helen (Hovey) Dotzler in Preston, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Decorah Lutheran. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1976. She was united in marriage to Gerald Halse on December 31, 1977, and to this union two children were born: Jennifer Margaret and John Gerald. They later divorced. Margaret worked at DECO Products as a supervisor and then as a welder at Featherlite Trailers in Cresco. She enjoyed country music, dancing, being outside, gardening, bird watching, going to the races, baking, cooking, playing board and card games with her grandchildren, watching movies and providing for others. Above everything else, she loved her grandchildren and doing things with them and for them. Margaret was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Decorah.     Margaret's survivors include her significant other: Nick Schissel, Ossian, IA.  Daughter: Jennifer (Steven) Henry, Decorah, IA, and son: John (Krystal Osborn) Halse, Decorah, IA. Two grandchildren: Kollin and Garrett Henry. Nick’s children: Chad (Renee Gunderson) Schissel, Calmar, IA, Travis (Alissa Schmitt) Schissel, Decorah, IA, Lee (Jill Kruse) Schissel, Colorado Springs, CO. Nick's two grandchildren: Laylah and Vienna Schissel. Her siblings and their spouses: Edward A. (Sandra) Dotzler, Belvidere, IL, Donna Vick, Cedar Rapids, IA, Marilyn (Curt) Peterson, Decorah, IA, Charlotte (Ken) Buckingham, Four Seasons, MO, Jerry (Jean) Dotzler of Mason City, IA, Wayne Dotzler, Hazleton, IA, Rodney (Jane) Dotzler, Ridgeway, IA, Roger Dotzler, Rockford, IL, Larry (Lola) Dotzler, Twin Falls, ID, Gary (Sue Russell) Dotzler, Roscoe, IL, Dennis (Jen Peterson) Dotzler, Decorah, IA, Barb (Bob) Bigler, Ridgeway, IA, Sharon (Kevin) Weselmann, Decorah, IA, Karen (Kevin) Latwesen, Michelle (Lee) Panoch and Mike (Naycia) Dotzler, Cresco, IA; by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
