Margaret R. “Marge” Cutsforth, age 84, of Calmar, IA, died on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at the Winneshiek Medical Center, in Decorah, Iowa, following a lingering illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2007, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning. There will be a rosary at 4:00 and a scripture service at 4:30 on Friday at the funeral home. Margaret Rosemarie “Marge” (Hruska) Cutsforth was born on January 10, 1923, the daughter of William and Vlasta (Vavrock) Hruska near Lawler, Iowa. Marge attended country school near Lawler and helped work on her family’s farm. She married James H. Cutsforth on August 29, 1945 at Riley Ridge Catholic Church north of Lawler. They lived near Lawler for a short time, before moving to Calmar in 1946. Marge worked at Bucheit Produce for twenty years and then at Graphics as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1988. Marge dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and did anything she could for them. Marge enjoyed sewing, gardening, fishing and traveling with her husband, Jim. Marge was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and was a sixty year member of the Halverson – Giesen American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Calmar. Marge’s survivors include her husband: James “Jim” Cutsforth, Calmar, IA; four children: Jim (Phyllis) Cutsforth, Ottumwa, IA; Terry (Bonnie Brandenburg) Fredericksburg, IA; Sheila (Dennis) Koepp, Decorah, IA and Sandy (Lyle) Lechtenberg, Houston, MN. Eight grandchildren: Kathy Cutsforth, Brian (Keitha) Cutsforth, Scott Cutsforth, Shelley (Harry Wahl) Whitehill, Heather (Scott) Engelhardt, Patrick (Shannon Bartholomew) Cutsforth, Todd (Bettie) Lechtenberg and Sean Cutsforth. Ten great grandchildren: Emily & Thomas Cutsforth; Britney, Cassandra & Alison Cutsforth; Elizabeth & Katie Engelhardt; Logan & Bryce Whitehill and Nicholas Lechtenberg. One brother: Lawrence (Naomi) Hruska, Lawler, IA. Marge was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Robert and William Hruska.
