Lynne Henningsgaard, age 64, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the First Lutheran Church, 604 West Broadway, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Chad Huebner presiding. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, IA. Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Monday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, in Decorah, and also after 10:00 a.m., at the church on Tuesday morning. Lynne Marie (Hitesman) Henningsgaard was born on October 25, 1948, the daughter of Robert and Marjorie (Dolton) Hitesman in Decorah, Iowa. Lynne graduated from Decorah High School in 1967. She attended Airline School and then went to work for the FBI in Washington DC, working with fingerprints. She returned to Calmar in 1969 and went to work at Collins in Cedar Rapids. She married Roger Henningsgaard on November 22, 1969 at the Calmar Lutheran Church in Calmar. Lynne attended Area One and took cosmetology classes and then to Minneapolis for advanced hair cutting school. In 1975, they moved to Monona and she operated her own beauty shop, together they also taught dance classes thru NICC in Monona, until they moved to Decorah in 1994. Together Roger and Lynne farmed, and she loved all the cows and calves, giving them all names over the years. Lynne was very artistic and did paintings on barn boards and canvas, creating crafts from gourds, leather and fur. When they were first married they would spend weekends on the river with friends. She enjoyed going antiquing and looking for jewelry finds and other goodies, finding pretty jewelry and rare and beautiful stones, and watching the jewelry network stations, flower gardening and canning produce from her vegetable garden, as well as feeding all sorts of birds at their home. She loved telling jokes and was a walking joke book. She loved to laugh. Lynne loved her husband, kids and grandkids. She loved spending time with her grandkids and tickling them. She was the kindest person and was always thinking about everyone else. She was always picking up things for everyone. She made a killer carrot cake! Lynne’s survivors include her husband: Roger Henningsgaard, Decorah IA. Two children: Jo (Tom) Berns, Luana, IA, and Ryan Henningsgaard, Cresco, IA. Five grandchildren: Dylan, Kaitlyn and Dustin Berns, Hope and Daniel Henningsgaard. Her mother, Marjorie Hitesman, Calmar, IA; One sister: Sheryl (Ron) Juve, Decorah, IA. One brother: Bill Hitesman, Hastings, NE. Nieces and nephews: John (Dina) Juve, Mike (Sarah) Juve and Lars (Anne) Juve; Nicole (Luke) Jansen and Heather (Joe) Norsworthy. Great nieces and nephews: Tommy, Tyler & Trevor Juve; Lilly & Bennett Juve; Jordan Juve; Maddie, Grace, & Anders Jansen; Aubrey & Kelsey Hitesman and Brennan Norsworthy. One cousin: Tom Gladfelter, Chicago, IL, and Lynne’s two cats: Birdie and Rowdy. Lynne was preceded in death by her father: Robert Hitesman on August 14, 2005. Father and mother-in-law: Myron & Irene Henningsgaard. Her grandparents: Charles & Vivian Hitesman and Sydney & Blanche Dolton. One aunt: Wilda Gladfelter.
