Lynn Hearn

September 17, 1954 — August 1, 2021

Lynn M. Hearn (Thompson), age 66, died on August 1, 2021 at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton, California, from multiple complications she experienced following two recent surgeries. She passed away free from pain and surrounded by family. Lynn was born on September 17, 1954 to the late Melvin and Phyllis Thompson. She was raised as a proud Norwegian in her beloved town of Decorah, Iowa. Lynn graduated from Decorah High School in 1972 and relocated to California in 1977, shortly after her first marriage to David Hearn. In 1998, Lynn was re-married to Ray Arthur, who became a step-father to her two children, Sarah Willits (Hearn) and Benjamin Hearn. Lynn and Ray had a loving relationship and celebrated 23 years of marriage prior to her passing. Lynn was a professional who held positions working at the Mayo Clinic, the Stanford Hospital, the Clorox Company, and the Wine Group, before ultimately starting her own business, Buster’s Lab. She performed analysis and testing of wine samples developed in the Livermore Valley Wine Country. Making wine was a passion of hers and a source of many treasured friendships over the years. The world sure did seem to love Lynn for her ability to connect and empathize with others, for her ability to let loose and have fun, and for her larger than life personality. Family and friends will hold these traits dear in her memory. Lynn is survived by her husband, Ray Arthur; her daughter, Sarah Willits; her son, Ben Hearn; her sister, Karen Thompson, and her two cherished grandsons Miles and Garrett Willits. She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Phyllis Thompson; and her brother, David Thompson. A celebration of life event will be planned in her honor on September 17th in Livermore, California.
