Lucille Jacobson

January 16, 1936 — October 30, 2023

Lucille ‘Lou’ Marie (Berge) Jacobson, Loveland, CO (formerly of Decorah), succumbed to Alzheimer’s on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Brookdale Mariana Butte Care Facility, Loveland CO. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Big Canoe Lutheran Church, 1381 Big Canoe Road, rural Decorah with Rev. David Werges presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service, Saturday at the church. Lucille Marie (Berge) Jacobson was born January 16, 1936, the daughter of Theodore and Amanda (Sande) Berge in Winneshiek County, Iowa. She was raised on the family farm with her three sisters, Shirley, Bernice and Irene. Lucille graduated from Decorah High School in 1955. Lou and Jake met at a dance in Caledonia, MN in 1952. Lou married Norman ‘Jake’ Jacobson on June 1, 1956 at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. They had no children but loved their many poodles over the years: Tony, Tonia, Tonie, Tammy and then there is Ellie Marie, the Multipoo! They lived in Decorah, where Lou worked at Fareway for many years. They eventually moved to Coralville, IA where they ran the Blue Top Motel. They also lived in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, IA for a short period of time before moving to Longmont, CO in 1972 and never looked back. From there they moved to Boulder and on to Loveland and that is where they stayed. Lou worked for Agilient Technologies where she became a certified solderer, soldering electronic components for NASA. Lou worked for Hewlett Packard for 16 years before she retired. In her spare time, you could find her helping Jake with his plumbing business. This is where her soldering came in handy. She wasn’t afraid of a crawl space either. Lou was an avid softball player in high school. She and Jake were in bowling leagues, they enjoyed golfing, enjoyed a little gambling, spent winters in Arizona and did some traveling. They traveled to Europe twice, once on a family trip with Jake’s brothers. Lou freely admitted that she hated to cook and only cooked when she had to! She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches and People magazines. She enjoyed listening to Jake play his guitar and sing for her as well! Lucille is survived by her sister: Bernice (Berge) Arneson, Decorah, IA., her dog Ellie Marie, Sisters-in law: Jeneane (Lesley) Jacobson, Ardis (Milton) Jacobson, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
