Loren "Bud" Amundson

Loren T. “Bud” Amundson, age 88, of Decorah, IA, died Tuesday evening, November 24, 2015 at the Patty Elwood Center in Cresco, IA. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev. David Sorenson and Rev. Gary Krapfl officiating. Inurnment will be in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah. Visitation begins on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., one hour before the service, at Decorah Lutheran Church. Loren Truvern “Bud” Amundson was born February 12, 1927 at home in rural Decorah, IA to Gilbert and Idella (Twenge) Amundson. The family moved to a farm near Prosper, MN. Bud attended country school at the Prosper School and then at the Burr Oak country school. He graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1946. Bud was united in marriage to Joan Pearson on August 20, 1949 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Decorah. Bud spent all of his working years farming in the Burr Oak area. He was always very proud of his land and his machinery. Bud and Joan moved into Decorah in 1994. Bud and Joan were longtime members of Mabel First Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, Osman Shrine, the Elks Club, and he served on the Phelps Cemetery board. Most recently they have been members of Decorah Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons; four sisters; and one nephew. Bud is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan of Decorah; and eight nieces and nephews and their families.
