Linda Waits

     Linda Waits, age 69, of Decorah, IA, died on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, IA.      Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street, Decorah, IA. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, IA.      The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is handling the arrangements.       Linda Kay (Dehning) Waits was born on August 17, 1946, the daughter of Bernell and Marjorie (Fretheim) Dehning in Minnehaha County, South Dakota. She was confirmed at Decorah Lutheran on September 17, 1961. Linda attended country school Canoe #4 and North Winneshiek High School. She worked at the Cliff House, Aase Haugen as a Nurse's Aide and housekeeping, and later at Deco. Linda enjoyed crocheting, flowers, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the V.F.W Auxiliary in Decorah.      Linda is survived by her son: John Daniels, Ossian, IA, and Susan (Alan) Balik, Ft. Atkinson, IA. Five grandchildren: Emily Daniels, Autumn Florek, Mitch, Dave and Kyle Balik. Mother: Marjorie Dehning, Ossian, IA. Brothers and sisters: Ron (Jill) Dehning, Postville, IA; Daryl (Pam) Dehning, Calmar, IA; Denise (Gary) Balik, Waucoma, IA; Lowell Dehning, Ossian, IA; and Alan (Rhonda) Dehning, Cresco, IA, along with many nieces and nephews.      Linda was preceded in death by her father: Bernell Dehning. Grandparents: Carl (Cora) Fretheim and Laura Sande
