Lillian Snyder, age 85, of Castalia, Iowa, died on Monday, November 23, 2009, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the Zion Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Lenth presiding. Burial will be in the Greenwood – Centennial Cemetery, rural Castalia, Iowa. Friends my call from: 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning. Lillian Lovila (Moore) Snyder was born in Clermont, Iowa, on February 15, 1924, the daughter of George and Mabel (Schoonmaker) Moore. She attended school at Moneek Bloomfield #5 country school through the 8th grade. Lillian married Lester “Pete” Snyder on March 3, 1942, in Frankville, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Ruth, Dale, LeRoy, Keith and Konnie. Lillian’s main focus in life was her family, especially the babies. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, collecting angels and music boxes. Lillian’s survivors include her daughter: Ruth (Ed) Scott, Bruce, WI and one son: Keith Snyder, Castalia, IA. She is also survived by a special little sister: Carol (Jim) Melver, Cresco, IA. A granddaughter she and her late husband raised: Jill (Jeff) Mara, Prairie du Chien, WI. Lillian is also survived by twenty grandchildren and forty great grandchildren as well as many other close friends and relatives. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents: George and Mabel (Schoonmaker) Moore. Her husband: Lester “Pete” of sixty-three years on March 26, 2005. One daughter: Konnie Foltz on May 20, 1995. Two sons: Dale Snyder on May 4, 1995 and LeRoy Snyder on February 14, 2002. One sister: Violet (Melvin) Borseth. Four brothers: Ralph (Margaret) Moore, Max (Maxine) Moore, Donald Levi Moore and one brother in infancy.
