Lester Snyder

Lester “Pete Snyder” age 84, of Castalia, Iowa, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester MN, after a brief illness. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, March 30, at 11:00 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia by Rev. David Lenth. Burial will be in the Greenwood - Centennial Cemetery, rural Castalia. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Decorah, Iowa and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday morning. Lester “Pete” Leroy Snyder was born on May 22, 1920 the son of Charles and Nellie Mae (Howell) Snyder in Auburn, Iowa. Pete attended country school near Auburn. He married Lillian Moore on March 3, 1942 in Frankville, Iowa. Together they farmed all their lives near Castalia. Lester was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia, Iowa. Lester’s survivors his wife of sixty-three years, Lillian Snyder, Castalia, IA. One daughter: Ruth Scott & husband Ed, Bruce, WI. One son: Keith Snyder, Castalia, IA. One granddaughter: Jill Mara & husband Jeff, Prairie du Chein, WI., nineteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. Two daughters-in-law: Darlene Snyder, Ossian, IA and Sandi Snyder, Castalia, IA. One son-in-law: Duane Foltz, Ossian, IA. One brother: Henry Snyder & wife April, Independence, IA. One sister-in-law: Carol Melver & husband Jim, Cresco, IA. Lester was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Dale and LeRoy Snyder and one daughter: Konnie Foltz.
