Leon
Bullerman
Mar 22, 1947 — May 20, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Leon Bullerman, whose generous soul will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 2 at T-Bocks in Decorah from 3 to 7 pm.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the family in honor of Leon.
Leon Joseph Bullerman, 79, of Decorah, died Wednesday, May 20th, due to a short illness, at Gunderson Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, with his family by his side. He will be laid to rest at the Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN.
Leon was the son of Vincent and Leona (Winter) Bullerman. Leon was baptized, confirmed, and attended grade school at St. Aloysius in Calmar. He graduated from Ossian DeSales in 1965. He attended Loras College for one year and then was drafted into the United States Army, where he served for two years. When he returned home, he married Jane Helen Bockman on October 19, 1974. Leon then started his lifelong working career at Wicks Construction. Together, they had two children, Cory Joe and Kasey Lynn. Leon was a member of Silvercrest Country Club and the Elks Club in Decorah.
With a gleam in his eyes, humor in his heart, he quietly led with steady strength, common sense advice, and midwestern stoicism to forever shape our lives for the better. His great generosity and loving kindness to everyone will always be remembered. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time on the golf course with his friends, cruising in his 1964 Ford Galaxie, and spending winters in Florida. He also took many trips to Colorado and Iowa City to visit his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Cory, his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Rosemary Bockman, his two nieces Renee Steele and Kelly Gordon, and his sister-in-law Janet Bockman.
Leon is survived by his wife Jane, daughter Kasey (Chris Dvorak) daughter-in-law Nora, grandson Maddux, and two granddaughters Olive and Pearl, his sisters Eileen (Delbert) and Marlene (Fred) Gordon, Jan (Steve) Tieskoetter, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary Jo (David) Sterling, Leon (Gloria), Patricia (Ralph) Steele, Steve, Tom (Teresa), Sharon Bockman, Faye Bockman, Mark (Penny), Mike (Dominique).
