Lavon Borseth

Lavon Borseth, age 74, of Decorah, IA died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Madison Lutheran Church at 2658Madison Rd. Decorah, IA with Tim and Mark Borseth presiding burial will be in the Madison Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 on Monday June 11, 2012 at the Schluter Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and after 10:00 at the church on Tuesday. Lavon Mae (Lenth) Borseth was born June 8, 1938, to Edwin and Ethel (Weller) Lenth at the Postville Hospital in Postville, IA. Lavon graduated from Postville High School in 1956 and worked for the Clayton County Engineers Office in Elkader, IA. Lavon moved to Cedar Rapids, IA to become a telephone operator and moved to Decorah to work as an operator until 1972. She was forced to quit work due to Multiple Sclerosis. Lavon married Clair Borseth March 27, 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Lavon enjoyed music and played the accordion and was in a dance band. She also liked to play cards. She will be remembered as “Auntie Bon Bon” and as the family driving teacher to many of her family. Lavon was a long time member of Madison Lutheran Church. Lavon is survived by her husband: Clair Decorah, IA. One Son: Randy (Marlene Bohach) Borseth, Decorah, IA. Three brothers: Verland (Ellen) Lenth, Waukon, IA; Eldon (Carol) Lenth, Elgin, IA; and Dale (Sue) Lenth, Castalia, IA. One sister: Karilyn Lenth, Waukon, IA. Lavon was preceded in death by her parents: Edwin and Ethel (Weller) Lenth. One sister: Sharon (Kenneth) Bigler. One brother: Dayton Lenth.
