Larry Werhan

Larry D. Werhan, 84, passed away on August 6, 2020 at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Sacramento CA. He was the husband of Marjorie (Crookshank) Werhan. They shared 65 years of marriage and traveled the world together. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah with Military Honors provided by Decorah’s Veterans and Military Organizations, and U.S. Air Force personnel. Born March 30, 1936 in Ridgeway IA, he was the son of Laverne and Beulah (Lunby) Werhan. He graduated from Decorah High School in 1954 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force that same year. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, earning the Bronze Star, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 OLC, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 3 OLC, Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and served his country for 21 years with duty stations in Italy, NM, MN, MO, Newfoundland, CA, France, Holland, Vietnam, KS, Thailand, NY and retired to Sacramento in 1976. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. He earned his Associate’s degree from American River College in 1974. Larry continued with the Department of Defense as a computer operator/programmer/supervisor from 1976 – 1991. He and Marj enjoyed travel, sightseeing and making the world their backyard. He will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, brother, uncle, friend, role model and for his never ending quick witted, timely jokes and sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Marjorie, daughters Tracy Boggs (Rick), Terry Moore (Dave), sister Carol Cutting (John), nieces and nephews Corrine, Jason, Keri, John Mike, Jessica and their families.
