Lanella "Nella" Pharr, age 72, of Decorah, IA, formerly Statesville, NC, died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Ed Krawczyk, presiding. Burial will be in the Springwater Cemetery, Decorah, IA. Friends may call from 9:00-11:00 a.m., on Saturday morning at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home. Lanella “Nella” Lazenby Pharr was born on July 9, 1940, the daughter of Harold and Vallie (Harmon) Lazenby in Statesville, North Carolina. Nella graduated from Statesville High School in 1959 and then attended Mitchell College in Statesville, North Carolina. Nella worked at the Lazenby Family Insurance Business for many years. She served as president of the Statesville Chapter of Insurance Women of America back in the 60’s. Lanella retired in 2003 and moved to Decorah, Iowa in July 2010. Nella loved to visit and was always happy to be around people. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Nella is survived by her daughter: Teresa Frady, Queen City, TX. One granddaughter: Heather (Jesse) Quandahl, Decorah, IA. One great grandson: Hunter Quandahl, Decorah, IA. One brother: Tuck (Judy) Lazenby, Statesville, NC. Nella was preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Vallie (Harmon) Lazenby.
