Kenneth "Kenny" Anfinson

Kenny Anfinson, age 90, of Ossian, IA, died on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in Postville, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Stavanger Lutheran Church rural Ossian with Officiant Daryl Schultz presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Stavanger Lutheran Church and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday morning. The Helms Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In Lieu of flowers: Memorials may be made to the Stavanger Lutheran Church window restoration. Kenneth Eugene Anfinson was born on April 24, 1931 the son of Otto and Thelma (Torkelson) Anfinson in rural Ossian, IA. He attended country school in rural Fayette County and graduated from West Union High School in 1950. Kenny enlisted with the United States Army where he served from 1952 until 1954. He married Jean Aanes on June 22, 1958, at West Clermont Lutheran Church. They were married for 10 months before Jean passed away in 1959. Kenny married Karlene Emerson on May 14, 1961 in Toledo, IA. Together they had two children: Krisanne and Kurt D. Anfinson. Kenny worked for Union Produce Coop for thirty-nine years retiring in 1997. He was a member of the South Winneshiek Country Club. Kenny was also a life member of Stavanger Lutheran Church and the Brockman-Hammersland American Legion Post 503. He enjoyed visiting with others, playing cards, driving his car around town checking things out before he got the mail, and golfing. Kenny is survived by his wife Karlene of Ossian. Children: Krisanne Hemesath, Rochester, MN and Kurt D. “Norske” Anfinson, Ossian, IA. Granddaughter: Michelle (Darren) Ewy, Rochester, MN. Great grandsons: Henry and William Ewy. Sister-in-law: LaRue Anfinson, Waukee, IA. Brothers-in-law: Stanley (Barb) Emerson, Mason City, IA and Darrell (June) Emerson, Iowa Falls, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents: Otto and Thelma (Torkelson) Anfinson. First wife: Jean Anfinson. Brothers: Ahlert (Alice) Anfinson, Kermit (LaVonne) Anfinson, Ernest (Betty) Anfinson, and Wayne Anfinson. Father and mother-in-law: Russell and Hildred Emerson. Brother-in-law: Larry Emerson. Nieces: Gwendolyn Anfinson, Marilyn Anfinson, and Janelle McCubbin.
