Kenneth Groth

Kenneth Groth, age 80, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at his home from natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Highland Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. David Andreae officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa, and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday morning. Kenny’s survivors include his six children: Chuck (Dawn) Groth, Decorah, IA; Dean Groth, Tucson, AZ; Linda (Jerry) Nelson, LaCrosse, WI; Lois (Dan) Downing, Waterloo, IA; Janice (Bob) Hewitt, Waterloo, IA; and Michael Groth, Minneapolis, MN. Seventeen grandchildren: Jill, Jacob & Jason Groth; Brandon & Dustin Viller; Kristy (Gabriel) Maness, Jessica (David) Stock, Daniel, Allison, Leah & Noah Downing; Cody, Kristen, Lucas, Jenna, Logan & Emmy Hewitt. One great grandchild: Ava Stock. Two sisters: Norma (Donald) Halse, Decorah, IA and Ila Barnes, Rochester, MN. Two brothers: Keith (Rita) Groth, Decorah, IA and Duane (Shirley) Groth, Decorah, IA and many nieces and nephews. Kenny is also survived by his special caregivers: Britney and Courtney Bakken, along with two faithful friends: Lee Naley and Howard Johnson. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and his wife: Dorothy on April 5, 2000. Four brothers-in-law: Ronald Barnes, Alden Droivold, Mervin Selness and Charlie Hagen.
