Kathryn Swenson

Kathryn “Kathy” Mavis Swenson, 69, of Decorah, IA, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union, IA. Kathy was born May 7, 1948 to Henry O. and Kaia (Nelson) Bakken. She is survived by her sons Jeffery (Susie) Swenson, James (Kristin) Swenson, and Joseph Swenson; her grandchildren: Zachary Swenson, Madison Talbert, Jacob Swenson, Kyle Swenson, Austin Swenson; great-grandchild Charlie Lucas-Swenson; and her siblings:  Dorothy Hansen, Arlin Bakken, Hubert Bakken, Durwin Bakken, and Linda Martin. Dorothy (Duane) Hanson of Faribault, MN, Arlin Bakken of Decorah, Hubert (Judy) Bakken of Decorah, Durwin (Jean) Bakken of Kansas City, MO and Linda (Doug) Martin of Kansas City, MO. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Kaia Bakken, and siblings Muriel Bakken, Donald Bakken, Merlin Bakken and Shirley Abbott. We are blessed to know that Mom is at peace and in the care of our Lord and Savior. Mom, we thank you for the sacrifices you made for us, which helped make us the men we are today. Be at peace and we look forward to the day we are reunited in Heaven. Kathy’s wish was to be cremated. There are no services planned.
