Kathryn Spilde

     Kathryn “Kay” Spilde, age 83, of Decorah, IA, died on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at the Winneshiek Medical Center, in Decorah, IA.      Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, 1725 Washington Prairie Road, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Mark Kvale presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.      Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, in Decorah, and also after 10:00 a.m., at the church on Thursday morning.      In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church Cemetery Endowment Fund, 1725 Washington Prairie Road, Decorah, IA, 52101 or to the Winneshiek County Hospice, 907 Montgomery Street, Decorah, IA, 52101.      Kathryn is survived by her husband: Vernon Spilde, Decorah, IA. Children: Craig (Jeanette) Spilde, Decorah, IA; Corinne (Mark) Brase, Fairfield, IA; and Diane (Charlie) Smock, Bellevue, NE. Grandchildren: Mallory Dignin, Stephen Dignin, Aubrey (Brent) Miller, Erica Spilde, Daniel (Beth) Brase, Michelle (Allan) Hines, Nicholas (Marissa) Smock, and Amber (Zach) Ryan. Great grandchildren: Madeline, Megan and Micah Brase, Hunter and Hilda Hines, and Hank Ryan. Brother: Ken (Roseann) Hovey, Atkins, IA. Brother-in-law: Roger (Barb) Spilde, Moorhead, MN. Sister-in-law: Colleen Hovey, Cresco, IA. Son-in-law: Mike (Cheryl Skrypez) Dignin, Little Canada, MN.      Kathryn was preceded in death by parents: Philip and Hanna (Hanson) Hovey. Her father and mother-in-law: Iver and Hilda Spilde. Daughters: Cheryl Dignin and Linda Spilde in infancy. Great granddaughter: Emma Brase in infancy. Three brothers: Harlan (Norma) Hovey, Maynard Hovey and Philip (Rose) Hovey. Three sisters: Wilma (Galin) Barth, Phyllis Hovey in infancy and Carol Hovey in infancy.
