Katie Wallace, age 53, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at her home after a long illness. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa with Rev. Phillip Gibbs officiating. Friends may call after 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Thursday October 25. Burial will be in Worthington Minnesota at St. Mary’s Cemetery 1:00 beginning at St. Mary’s Church. Kathleen “Katie” Marie Wallace was born on June 17, 1954, the youngest daughter of John “Jack” and Clarice (Olson) Wallace in Worthington, Minnesota. Katie graduated from Worthington High School in 1972 and moved to Decorah in 1977. Katie ran her own Daycare Business for twenty years. She leaves behind love for all those children she cared for over the years. She ran a cleaning business for five years, until her health declined. Independent with a wonderful sense of humor Katie enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved her family and friends and was a thoughtful and caring daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. Her creative nature blessed all she knew with many gifts of her own making and contributions to more than one decorating project. She also enjoyed morning coffee, doing Suduko, making jewelry, cooking and shopping. Katie’s survivors include her mother: Clarice Wallace, Roseville, MN. Two sisters: Ann Lais, Roseville, MN and Mary (Douglas) Ohotto, St. Paul, MN. Two brothers: Mark (Mary) Wallace, St. Paul, MN and Thomas (Regina) Wallace, Minneapolis, MN. Nieces and nephews: Matthew (Nichole) Fiekema, Amanda (Jay) Pederson, Benjamin Wallace, Henry Wallace, Emily Lais, Marian Lais, Drewanna Flynn and Jack Flynn. One great niece: Caitlin Feikema and one great nephew: Vincent Pederson along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
