Kathleen Huber

Kathleen Huber, age 95, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Ossian, Iowa, with Monsignor Cletus Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Kathleen Helen Huber was born on March 22, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Reicks) Huber on the family farm near Ossian, Iowa. Kathleen attended St. Francis – DeSales Catholic School, she worked for a short time for Rath Packing in Waterloo, Iowa and then nursing school in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a nurse for several years in Chicago and returned to Iowa in the 1970’s, taking care of elderly people in their homes in the Decorah area. Kathleen enjoyed baking angel food cakes, playing cards and going on walks. Kathleen was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian and St. Benedict’s Catholic in Decorah. Kathleen is survived by her sister: Loretta Hawkins, New Hampton, IA. Two nieces: Margaret (Joe) Hoggatt, Tacoma, WA and Virginia (Al) Bock, Janesville, IA. One nephew: Ralph (Marilyn) Hawkins, Jr., Jackson Junction, IA, along with many great nieces and nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Margaret (Reicks) Huber. Two brothers: Louis and Clarence Huber. One nephew: Donald Hawkins.
