Kathaline "Pepper" Rude

Kathaline “Pepper” Ann Rude, age 65, of Decorah, IA, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019 at home in Decorah.   Pepper was born on July 18, 1953 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Rita (Brown) Rude. She graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1971. She lived in Chicago, IL for a while then moved to San Francisco, CA, where she met John DeCoste. She moved back to Decorah in the late 1990’s with John. The last several years she has worked for her sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Harry Kreutzer, at Roscoe’s. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother Rita on September 12, 1990; her father Ken on April 8, 2001; her brother Mark Rude of Winona, MN on October 28, 2018; her sister Marlene Kreutzer on May 16, 2019; and her brother-in-law Harry Kreutzer on March 24, 2013.      Pepper is survived by her life partner and companion, John DeCoste of Decorah, two sisters, Jackie Rude of Yuma, AZ and Mary Thompson of Coralville, IA; one nephew, David Wilkenson; and four nieces: Jennifer (Sam) Flottum, JoDee (Roger) Jevne, Selena (Chad) Michel and Jessica (Amit) Dayal.
