Joyce Spilde

Joyce Elaine Spilde (Goeke) 77, of Decorah, Iowa passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024, under the amazing care at Wellington. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Decorah Lutheran Church Joyce was born on January 5th, 1947, in Waukon, Iowa to parents Robert and Evelyn (Meyer) Goeke. She married Lester Truman Spilde in June of 1965, and they had two boys, Michael Lester Spilde and Richard Lee Spilde. Joyce worked at Oneota Care Facility, later named Wellington Place, for 25+ years, first in laundry then in housekeeping. Joyce was an animal lover who always opened her home to animals in need. She particularly loved cats. Joyce also loved quilting and spent many hours making beautiful quilts. She had a beautiful soul and will be missed by many. Joyce is survived by her two sons Richard (Jessica) and Michael Spilde as well as brother Richard Goeke (Opal), Harold Goeke, Dale Goeke (Judy), Daryl Duwe (Yolanda), Lee Goeke (Sharon), Roger Goeke (Paula), Bruce Goeke (Brenda), Don Willis and Everett Willis; sisters Mary Duwe, Dorothy Boise (Ronald) and Sandra Goeke as well as five grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Evelyn Goeke; Infant sister, Carol Goeke; sister, Alice Osterhus; brothers, George Willis, IV, Dean Willis and James Goeke.
