Joanne Burreson, age 84 of Decorah, IA passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at her home in Decorah, IA. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah with Rev. Peter Kowitz presiding. Visitation will follow the service until 12:00 p.m. The Schluter-Balik Funeral Home will be assisting the family with arrangements. Private family burial will be held. Joanne Shirley Burreson was born on March 3, 1937 the daughter of Paul and Lillian (Kessell) Gruhn. She attended local schools. She married Tom Burreson on August 11, 1963 at the Decorah Lutheran Church. Together, Joanne and Tom ran Wheatman Dry Cleaners in Decorah from 1985-2007. Joanne was very loyal to their customers and understood the importance of good customer service. Joanne was very active in the Decorah Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School and belonged to the Ladies Circle. Joanne was also a girl scout leader. Joanne was a very active and adventurous. Her many hobbies included; fishing, quilting, baking, cooking, gardening, and going for rides in the car that often times lead to the boat. Joanne is survived by her three children: Dawn (Craige) Iwaszko, Chaska, MN, Steve (Joelle) Burreson, Miltona, MN, and Alicia (Mark) Corbett, Arvada, CO. Grandchildren: Joshua, Jackie, Joy, Jocelyn, Kia, Aaron, Noelle, Tyler, and Mackenzie. Sisters: Shelia Meikle and Bonnie Andrews. Special friend: Lori Christen and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Burreson in 2009. Parents: Paul and Lillian Gruhn. Father and mother-in-law: Hildus and Evelyn Burreson. Brothers-in-law: Gary Burreson and Claude Andrews.
