Jeremy was born on April 2, 1977 at Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union, Iowa to Dorene S (Ruroden) and Douglas Weiss.
Jeremy was baptized at Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union. He was confirmed on December 2, 1990 at Calmar Community United Methodist Church. Jer attended the South Winneshiek School District and graduated on May 28, 1995. Jeremy wrestled for several years.
Jeremy has been employed at Hawkeye Stages, Walmart, Agri Star, Featherlite, and Ford Garage. His present job was being employed at Gemini for five years.
Jeremy had many interests in life. He raced a stock car for a couple of years. He was an avid bowler. He went to state 14 times and received a 300 ring, which he was very proud of. Jeremy’s favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys when they won. Jeremy got his mom hooked on NASCAR racing several years ago. Going to Mom's for dinner and watching the race was a given on Sundays.
Jeremy was a people pleaser. Anyone who needed help knew Jeremy would be there to lend a helping hand, no matter what the task was. He enjoyed being outside and working on his lawn. He looked forward to camping trips to Deer Creek with Nick and Gary where they would watch the races and enjoy meals out.
Jeremy (AKA Hoss) will be missed at the annual Cousin Crusade Christmas reunion. A night of fun and storytelling, sometimes even caroling.
One of Jeremy’s most honorable moments was when he joined the Calmar Fire Department 14 years ago. In 2024, he was appointed as a fire captain. He served as a training officer as well. What an honor it was for him. He took his responsibilities very seriously and loved every aspect of being a fireman. The camaraderie between fellow firemen meant a great deal to him. He took great pride in driving the truck in the parade.
Jeremy enjoyed spending time at Bryce and Kris’. Whether it be for Watermelon Days, NASCAR at the Newton track, or watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play football in the rain. Jeremy was always in for a good time. He held a special place in his heart for his sister, Robin, and brother, Jason.
He loved and treasured spending time with family and friends. Jeremy had a big and tender heart. He will be missed greatly, and he will live forever in our hearts.
Jeremy is survived by his mother, Dorene S Peyton of Calmar; sister, Robin (Jason) Franck of Prairie du Sac, WI; nephew, Zachary Franck of Waunakee, WI; niece, Ashley Mae Franck of Prairie du Sac, WI; and a very special friend, Kayla Hageman.
