Jeffrey D. Severson

Jeffrey D. Severson, age 48, of Calmar, died on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev. Bryan Robertson and Rev. Wayne Hagen officiating. Inurnment will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. Visitation begins on Monday at 1:00 P.M., one hour before services at the church. Fjelstul Funeral Home is serving the family. Jeffrey Dean Severson was born February 20, 1963 in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Leonard R. and Donna Mae (Vine) Severson, Jr. He was baptized and confirmed at Decorah Lutheran Church. He graduated high school and worked at various jobs over the years. Jeff had a love of eagles and also enjoyed drawing. Jeff is survived by his mother, Donna Severson of Calmar; his four brothers: Ron “Wally” (Sue) Severson of Calmar; Alan (Pam) Severson of Calmar; Jim (Renee) Severson of Cedar Rapids; and Todd (Leah) Severson of Westfield, IN; his sister, Robin (Marty) Andera of Spillville; eleven nieces and nephews: Erica Severson-Denniston (Jay Denniston) of Denver, CO; Jill (Ryan) Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; Dustin and Amber Severson of Calmar; Amanda and Brock Severson of Cedar Rapids; Brady, Cassidy, and Jaden Severson of Calmar; Emma and Lindsay Severson of Westfield, IN; two great-nephews, Kayne and Cash Johnson; fiancée, Marie Shapley of Waverly, IA; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Severson, Jr. on October 28, 1989; his sister, Loretta Severson on June 27, 2008; his grandparents, Gladys and Alert Vine and Ruth and Leonard Severson, Sr.; and his brother-in-law, Jay Jones.
