Her early years were spent living on the family farm, and she attended Garborg #1, a one-room school. In 1945, the family moved to Wyndmere, ND. She graduated from Wyndmere High School and Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. At Concordia, she was active in her Home Economics major, activities, the college newspaper, and the college debate club. She did further studies at University of Wisconsin Madison 1956-1957. From 1955-1962, she was a home economics teacher in Karlstad and Ortonville, MN, a home agent in Montevideo, MN, and northwest supervisor in the Minnesota Agricultural Extension service. She married LeRoy Iverson on Feb 24, 1962, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Edina, MN. LeRoy's positions with USDA Dairy Inspection and Grading brought them to Elroy, WI, where son Eric was born, and to Fayetteville, NY, where sons Paul and David were born. They moved to Glenn Ellyn, IL for the last years of LeRoy's career, then retired to Decorah IA in 1994. In 2019, Jean had a major fall but recovered to move into assisted living in Aase Haugen and had five more good years. Throughout her Decorah years, Jean was an active participant in school and church organizations. She made Lutheran World Relief quilts for more than 50 years. She was a life member of Sons of Norway. She was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church. She was a volunteer at Vesterheim Museum and Luther College Church Women. She loved going on rides through the gravel roads of the driftless region, which she continued during her last years. She enjoyed visiting family landmarks, seeking out favorite restaurants and church suppers, enjoyed the seasonal changes in blooms and birds, and noticed the progress in farmer's fields. She was a thoughtful presence at Aase Haugen, attentive to residents, staff, friends, and family, in person and on the phone, until the end. Jean is survived and remembered by her children, Eric Iverson of Eagan, MN, Paul Iverson of London, England, and David Iverson of Nampa, ID. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Iverson, sister Hazel Berg, and brother Ogden Lee Lovdokken.
