James O. Thompson

James Orlen Thompson age 90 of Decorah, IA passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 18, 2022. A private graveside service with military rites will be held at a later date. He was born April 4, 1932 the son of Oscar Thompson and Alice Gilbertson. He graduated from Decorah High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jeanette "Jenny" Thompson. Three children: Jeffery (Mary Jo), Jon and Julie (James) Barry. Seven grandchildren: Jordan, Jamie, Justus (Molly), Jana, Jawny (Colton) Massengale, Tim and Joseph Barry and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Sisters: Ardys Hislop and Norma Nesset. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Winneshiek Medical Center Hospice or Friends of Decorah Fish Hatchery.
