Irvin E. Flage, age 89, of Decorah, IA and formerly of Postville, IA, slept away to meet his master on Friday morning, January 25, 2013 at Barthell Order of Eastern Star Home in Decorah, the result of Congestive Heart Failure. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Private Family Inurnment will be in Bethlehem Presbyterian Cemetery in rural Postville. Irvin Elmer Flage was born June 30, 1923, the son of Benjamin and Meta (Held) Flage in rural Postville, Iowa. He was a 1941 graduate from Waukon High School, where he excelled in the track program. He married Delois Fiet on August 9, 1948 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in rural Postville. He was a faithful member and served in many church offices. He was baptized there and confirmed by the Rev. John Klosterboer in 1936. He was a long time farmer in the Ludlow area, a registered Jersey Cattle Breeder at Irdel Jersey Farm and a member of the National Jersey Association. He served on the Farmers Store Board of Directors in Postville. He loved nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Irvin was the proud father of Dr. Daniel Flage (Dana) of Harrisonburg, VA and Deborah Timmerman, R.N. (Joel) of Decorah. His greatest interest in life was to watch the progress in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Esther Kiesau; and three brothers: Ralph, Albert and Leo. Irvin is survived by his wife Delois of Decorah; one son, Dr. Daniel Flage (Dana) of Harrisonburg, VA; one daughter, Deborah Timmerman, R.N. (Joel) of Decorah; four grandchildren: Tristan and Angela Flage of Harrisonburg, VA, Anna Timmerman (Braham Ketcham) of Chicago, IL and Kerri Timmerman of Atlanta, GA; and a sister-in-law, Jean Flage of Postville.
