Irma Schuler

Irma E. Schuler, age 94, of Festina, Iowa, died on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, Iowa, following a short illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, in Festina, Iowa, with Monsignor Cletus Hawes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday and until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Parish Center in Festina, Iowa. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a scripture wake service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Parish Center in Festina. Irma Elizabeth (Schroeder) Schuler was born on May 25, 1914, the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Leibold) Schroeder in Ossian, Iowa. Irma attended St. Francis DeSales Catholic School and helped on the family farm. Irma married Norbert Schuler on April 17, 1934 at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Ossian. They lived all their married lives in Festina. Irma worked at Eileen’s Flower Shop in West Union and at Calmar Floral. She loved flowers, gardening, decorating her home and baking. Irma was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and Rosary Society. Irma’s survivors include her children: Ron (Donna) Schuler, Ft. Atkinson, IA; Janet (Allen) Weston, Cedar Falls, IA and Nancy Kluesner, Manchester, IA. Five grandchildren: Tina (Roger) Croell, Tami (Gary) Schmitt, Steven Weston, Kara Haugland, Lea (Jeff) Abel. Ten great grandchildren: Lance Croell, Lacy Croell, Kyle Schmitt, Kelsey & Kara Schmitt; Brett Weston, Erin Weston, Claire Weston; Logan Abel and Jenna Abel. Two brothers: Leonard Schroeder, Ossian, IA and Dennis (Dorothy) Schroeder, Bradenton, FL. One brother-in-law: Harold (Jackie) Curtis, Bellevue, WA, and several nieces and nephews. Irma was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Josephine Schroeder. Her husband: Norbert Schuler in 1983. One son-in-law: Daniel Kluesner in 2002, one granddaughter: Stacey Kluesner in 1964 and eleven brothers and sisters.
