Irene H. Drew, age 80, of Decorah, IA, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. Her body was donated to Mayo Clinic's Department of Anatomy in Rochester, MN. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah with Rev. Phillip Gibbs officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery in Decorah at a later date. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday, January 2 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah. Irene Helen (Vine) Drew was born August 22, 1930 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Hjalmer and Ida (Moen) Vine. She graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1950. After high school she worked at Dr. Field’s office. Irene was united in marriage to Robert J. Drew on May 8, 1951 at St. Benedict Catholic in Decorah, Iowa. This union was blessed with three children: Kathy, Cal and Michael Alan, who died as an infant. Irene was a homemaker who enjoyed auctions, antiques and garage sales. Upon Bob’s retirement, they started an antique store on the farm located on Highway 9 between Decorah and Ridgeway. Irene enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Elks Lodge and St. Benedict Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, on September 6, 1994; her infant son Michael; her parents, Hjalmer and Ida; her brothers, Roger and Harold Vine and a brother in infancy; her father- and mother-in-law, Raymond and Theresa Drew; and a nephew Pat Drew. Irene is survived by her two children: Kathy (Jerry) Brock of Sheldon, IA and Cal (Terri) Drew of Decorah; four grandchildren: Tania (Matt) Webb of Las Vegas, NV, Jeremy (Mary) Brock of Maple Grove, MN, Aaron (Ingrid) Brock of Plymouth, MN, and Jennifer Brock of Ames, IA; five great-grandchildren: Dylan Brock, Natalie Brock, Iva Webb, Robert Webb and Brayden Brock; two step-grandchildren: Brian (Jewell) Pahl of Calmar, IA and Stacy (Robert) Engelhardt of Decorah; four step-great-grandchildren: Hannah and Jordan Pahl and Lexie and Marissa Engelhardt; one brother, Donald (Ruth) Vine of Waukon, IA; two brothers-in-law: Daniel (Betty Mae) Drew of Decorah and Raymond (Kay) Drew of Hampton; and by many nieces and nephews.
