Iona Kubesh

Iona Kubesh age 88 of Calmar died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2009, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2009, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa, and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Monday morning. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may be sent to Connie Becker P.O. Eleven grandchildren: Bobbi (Duane) Petersen, Dike, IA; Greg (Cindy) Becker, Cedar Rapids, IA; Jennifer (Brian) Hansen, Waterloo, IA; Michelle (Todd) Coulter, Dike, IA; Shelby (Brian) White, Peosta, IA; Mindy (Mark) O’Melia, Bettendorf, IA; Nicole (Juan) Morcha, Moline, IL; Carrie (Jason) Novak, Rock Island, IL; Brad (Jenny) Novak, Wheaton, IL; Benjamin Kubesh, Austin, MN; and Karla Kubesh, Austin, MN. Eighteen great grandchildren and one brother: Elias (Dorothy) Zweibahmer, Cresco, IA. One sister: Catherine (Donald) Huinker, Ossian, IA. Two sisters-in-law: Mabel Kubesh, Calmar, IA and Evelyn Hruska, Verona, WI, along with many nieces and nephews.
