Hildegarde "Sue" Ramsey

     Hildegarde “Sue” Ramsey, age 97, of Decorah, IA, died on Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Wellington Place Nursing Home in Decorah, IA.      Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at the First Lutheran Church, 604 West Broadway, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Melissa Bills presiding. Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery.      Friends may call after 10:00 a.m., at the church on Tuesday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is handling arrangements.      Hildegard Rose “Sue” (Rude) Ramsey was born on February 20, 1917, the daughter of Theodore and Ameilia (Sagan) Rude in Bonair, Iowa. Sue attended country school. She was united in marriage to Norman Ramsey on September 14, 1935, at the Lutheran Parsonage in Waukon, IA. Sue worked as a salesclerk at JC Penney and cleaned homes before working at Aase Haugen Nursing Home for twenty-nine years.. Sue loved to be outside, go camping, traveling and fishing. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Decorah      Sue is survived by her two sons: Thomas (Shirley) Ramsey, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Victor (Marjorie) Ramsey, Fairfax, IA. One daughter-in-law: Helen Ramsey, Waterloo, IA. Four grandchildren: Gerald (Shelly) Ramsey, Stephen (Kimberly) Ramsey, Debbie (Ron) Smith and Brenda Ramsey. Ten great grandchildren. Sisters-in-law: Grace Steele, Decorah, IA, LaVern Ramsey, Decorah, IA, Margaret Rude, Decorah, IA, and Helen Rude, South Carolina.      Sue was preceded in death by her parents: Theodore and Ameilia (Sagan) Rude. Her husband: Norman Ramsey on Nov. 27, 2003. One son: Darrell Ramsey on Nov. 13, 1979. Three brothers: George Rude, Allen Rude, Paul (Volley) Rude. Two sisters: Thelma Rude and Joan (Bob) Nohre. Brothers-and sisters-in-law: Raymond Ramsey, Gertrude (Raymond) Steele, Lester Steele, Doris (Eric) Styve.
