Henry Charles Langreck was born on July 16, 1963, in New Hampton, the son of Henry and Verda (DeSloover) Langreck. He attended Turkey Valley Schools and graduated in 1981. Henry married Karla Kuennen on October 3, 1992, at St. Lukes Catholic Church in St. Lucas. To this union four boys were born: Chase, Blake, Cole, and Tate. Following high school, Henry farmed along with running a dairy farm for 18 years. In this time, Henry also started Big Oak Construction. With his construction talents he built their family home, helped with his son’s houses, and helped friends and family with countless home improvement projects. In 1999, Henry started Big Oak Elk Ranch. From the time he was old enough, Henry always enjoyed hunting. With the help of his wife Karla, and his four boys, Henry was able to make his client’s dreams come true. In the hardwoods of Northeast Iowa, he provided opportunities to harvest elk, hogs, rams, fallow deer, red deer, and whitetail deer. Henry was a very active and devoted member of St. Lukes Catholic Church. For many years, he has planted the farm ground surrounding the church and donated his earnings back to the church. He was on the St. Lucas Fun Days committee where he helped run the tractor ride which they converted to a UTV ride. Henry held many offices, coached, and currently resided as president for the Turkey Valley Trap Team. He also has sat on the board and help start the Turkey Valley Trap Range. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, wood working, coaching the trap team, country music concerts, cooking, baking, and browsing his beloved “Tik Tok” for the latest and greatest recipes. Henry’s family was everything to him. He was a devoted husband, proud father, and even prouder grandfather. Henry will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
