Helen Ovedia Arneson

Helen Arneson, age 81, of Decorah, IA passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Green Lea Manor in Mabel, MN. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the Helms Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah. A graveside service will follow at Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Helen was born on September 22, 1941, to Arthur and Palma (Shuros) Arneson. She was baptized, confirmed and a member of the Big Canoe Lutheran Church, WELCA and Hannah circle. She received her education from Sattre Country School of rural Decorah, IA. She was a graduate of class 1960 at Decorah High School. After graduating, Helen worked at Deco Products for 39 years. She lived with and cared for her mother Palma who was arthritic until 1979. Helen enjoyed spending time with friends and going on bus trips. She also enjoyed sewing needle work, knitting, quilting, and baking with chocolate. Helen is survived by first cousins: Janice Hotvedt, (Judy) Shuros, Warren (Lois) Shuros, Lori (Mike) Paulson, Leslie (Tom) Cook, Tina (Andy) Meek and several nieces and nephews. Helen is preceded in death by her parents: Arthur and Palma Arneson, Sister: Darlene “Dot” Koethy, first cousins: Mary Ann Keefe, Charles Shuros and Gladys Arneson.
