Harold Erickson

Harold S. Erickson, age 96, of of Decorah, Iowa, died on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Green Lea Manor in Mabel, MN. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at the Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. Bryan Robertson presiding. Burial will be in the Springwater Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa. The family will greet friends and family after 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday morning at the church. Harold Sylvester Erickson was born on August 27, 1913, the son of Oscar J. and Marie (Sorenson) Erickson on the family farm in Canoe Township, rural Decorah, Iowa. Harold attended rural country school at the Canoe Township School. He married Mary Barth on February 2, 1938, in Pleasant Township. Together they farmed for many years in the Springwater area. Harold was also a mechanic for Pete Neuhring and at Lang’s Dairy. Harold entered the Green Lea Manor in Mabel, MN in 2000. Harold enjoyed going fishing and deer hunting, along with playing cards and visiting with all. Harold was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah. Harold’s survivors include his one son: Harlan (Lorraine) Erickson, Decorah, IA. One daughter: Marilyn (Jerry) Canady, Cedar Rapids, IA, One daughter-in-law: Angela Erickson, Decorah, IA, along with ten grandchildren: Lynn (David) Halweg, Michael (Ingrid) Erickson, James Erickson (friend, Martha Graves), Renae (Henry) Wilkins, Robyn Canady, Heather Canady, Michelle Canady, Shawn (Ruby) Erickson, Kristi (Lou) Arens and Brian Erickson, along with fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. One sister: Leona Roher, Decorah, IA. One sister-in-law: Alice Andreae, Elkader, IA.
