Harold Brincks, age 80, of Decorah, IA died Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at his home in Decorah. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In consideration of concerns regarding Covid-19, social distancing and wearing of masks will be observed during the services. Harold Herman Brincks was born September 5, 1939 in New Hampton, Iowa, the son of William and Cecilia (Langreck) Brincks and grew up on a farm in Waucoma, Iowa. After graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1957, Harold enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably until 1964. He was united in marriage to Joyce Dahlen on October 5, 1963 and was blessed with a daughter (Paula) and a son (Jason). The family lived on a farm in Alta Vista, Iowa for several years. Harold worked at Oliver/White Farm for several years until their closure. He continued his education and became a certified substance abuse counselor in 1983.He later moved to Dallas, Texas to pursue a career at LTV Aerospace Defense plant where he worked for many years. Ultimately Harold returned to the midwest and became a top ranked sales representative for Aflac Corporation. Harold excelled in this career and received numerous awards for his leadership skills in this industry. Harold was very active in his community and had a large circle of friends in and around Decorah, Iowa. Family was most important to him and he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. If you were to ask any of his friends they would comment on his big heart and wonderful sense of humor. Additionally, he was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan, and loved watching the Dallas Cowboys football team. He is survived by his daughter Paula Givens (fiance-Randall Higgs) Ames Iowa; son Jason Brincks - Charles City, Iowa; grandchildren Mike Givens - Denver, Colorado; Rachael Givens - Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother Leroy (Thelma) Brincks - Washburn, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carmelita Rosenbaum and former wife Joyce (Brincks) Hinz. Harold’s faith in God was unwavering and he will be sorely missed.
