Grace Rupple

Grace Rupple age, 88 of Decorah died Saturday June 21, 2008 at the Aase Haugen Home In Decorah, IA. After a long illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Tuesday June 24, 2008 at the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Decorah, IA. By Father Phillip Gibbs, burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday at the Schluter Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, IA. From 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and from 9:00 – 10:15 at the Schluter Balik Funeral Home on Tuesday Loretta Grace (Gaul) Rupple was born July 16, 1919, on the family farm near Cresco, IA, to Will and Alice (Whalen) Gaul. Grace attended rural Winneshiek County schools and graduated from Cresco High School. She married Clarence Rupple on June 1, 1946, at the family farm. Grace taught for many years in Howard and Winneshiek country schools, and at St Benedicts in Decorah. She enjoyed painting china, dancing, going on bank trips and playing cards. She was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. Grace is survived by one granddaughter: Michelle (Michael) Martin of Boonville, MO. Two great granddaughters: Raven & Nina Martin. One Brother: Dwain Gaul of Cresco, IA. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Clarence on February 26, 1978; her daughter: Rita Rupple on December 1, 1983; six brothers: Joe, John, Parnell, Leonard, Lavern, and William Gaul. Four sisters: Mary Witske, Genevieve Hannah, Doris Sidisky, and Rosanna Phiefer.
