Gertrude Steele

Gertrude Steele, age 96, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Friday, November 8, 2013, at Wellington Place Nursing Home in Decorah, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Melissa Bills presiding. Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday morning at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah. Gertrude is survived by her two sons: Walter (Lila) Steele, Decorah, IA, and Curtis Steele, Waukon, IA. Two daughters: Betty Brunotte, Hugo, MN, and Charlene (Gene) Deck, Marion, IA. Four grandchildren: Wanda (Marc) Reyhons, Michael (Summer) Deck, Connie Lynn Olivarez and Tracie Brunotte. Seven great grandchildren: Aaron, Jacob & Jennifer Brunotte, Robert & Cory Olivarez, Taylor & Travis Reyhons. One sister: Grace Steele, Decorah, IA. Two sisters-in-law: LaVerne Ramsey and Hildegard “Susie” Ramsey, both of Decorah, IA, along with several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents: Gilbert and Olga (Quam) Ramsey. Her husband: Raymond Walter Steele. One son: Robert Steele. Two brothers: Raymond Ramsey and Norman Ramsey. One sister: Doris (Erick) Styve.
