Georgeanna Wellborn

Georgeanna Wellborn, age 81, of Decorah, IA passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Gundersen Health Systems in LaCrosse, WI. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah with Deacon Nick Francios presiding. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. Georgeanna Wellborn was born on March 17, 1940, the daughter of George and Blanch (Williams) Bass in Kirksville, MO. Georgie attended and graduated from Kirksville Senior High School. While going to school, she worked at Darry’s Bakery. There she learned how to bake and decorate cakes, cupcakes and cookies. After high school, she married Jim Wellborn and became a housewife and mother. They were married on February 14, 1958. Together they had two daughters: Shari and Roxanne. She enjoyed reading, gardening, baking and taking vacations to historical sites. Georgeanna was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughters: Shari Mayo, St. Louis, MO and Roxanne Wellborn, Decorah, IA. Grandchildren: Emily, Amanda and Rebecca. Four “fur baby” grandchildren: Tinker, Benny, Peanut and Poppy. Georgeanna was preceded in death by her husband: Jim Wellborn. Parents: George and Blanch (Williams) Bass. Brothers: Gene and Dick Bass.
