George Ness

George Ness, age 74, of Decorah, IA, died on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street in Decorah with Rev. Chad Huebner presiding. Burial will be in the spring at Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00pm on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah and also after 10:00am at the church on Wednesday morning. George Perry Ness was born on April 12, 1944 the son of George Sr. and Luella (Vick) Ness in Decorah, IA. George graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1962. After high school, George farmed with his dad on the family farm south of Decorah. He married Paula Miller on January 21, 2005 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah. George enjoyed playing cards, farming and spending time with his grandchildren. George is survived by his wife Paula. Children: Tony (Laura) Miller, Lake City, MN; Tim (Sue) Miller, Dover, MN; Tina (Josh) Whalen, Chatfield, MN and Dusty (Jill) Miller, Harmony, MN. Grandchildren: Skyler & Zachary; Teigen & Saige; Brody & Allia; Jordan, Grace, Lily and Bennett. Sister: Sara Breitsprecher. Sister-in-law: Connie Miller. Seven nieces. George’s card club friends for over forty years and many good and loyal friends made over the course of his life. George was preceded in death by his parents: George Sr. and Luella (Vick) Ness. Sister: Clara (Harold) Vine.
