Gene Brainard, age 85, of Waukon, IA died Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, IA. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 403 Bethlehem Dr., Postville, IA, with Rev. Tom Burish presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 12:00 noon on Wednesday at the church. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is assisting the family. Gene’s survivors include his wife: Charlene, Waukon, IA Two daughters: Mary Stotts (Randy Barker), Wapello, IA and Margaret Brainard, Waukon, IA. Two grandchildren: Cory and Stephanie Stotts. Two sisters: Barbara Schori, Chicago, IL and Bernice Frederick, Postville, IA. Two brothers: Ray (Darlene) Brainard, Marion, IA and Edgar (Shirley) Brainard, Waulon, IA. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Shirley Brainard, Postville, IA, Donna Brainard, Sedalia MO,orril Brainard, Florida, David Lensch, Decorah, IA and Mark (Linda) Styve, Waterloo IA.
