Gary Langreck

Gary Langreck, age 55, of St. Lucas, IA, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at his home in St. Lucas from a heart condition. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 6, 2019 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, IA with Rev. Aaron Junge presiding. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, IA and also after 9:30 a.m. at the Church on Friday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is handling arrangements. Gary Bernard Langreck was born on Oct. 22, 1963 to Alvin and Lila (Johansen) Langreck in West Union, IA. He attended grade school at St. Luke’s Catholic School in St. Lucas and graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1982. While in high school he worked at the White House Supper Club and Drilling’s Grocery Store. After high school, he worked in Houston, Texas for a short time cleaning up and remodeling old homes. Gary moved back home and began working at DURA in West Union, IA and was employed there until they closed their doors. Since 2010, Gary worked at Swiss Valley in Luana, IA (now known as Prairie Farms). Gary was an avid music lover and enjoyed attending festivals and concerts all over the area. Music was his life. Going to the Iowa State Fair was always on his bucket list and he finally got the opportunity to go this past August and had a great time and enjoyed trying all the different foods. He had a generous heart, especially for children, and always took pride in sponsoring a child at Christmas time.Gary was known for his infectious laugh, his spirit of adventure, and his enthusiasm to try new things. He enjoyed staying in contact with all the friends he made over the years and will be remembered most by his great sense of humor and his kind heart. Gary is survived by his father: Alvin Langreck, St Lucas, IA. Brothers: Dennis Langreck, St. Lucas, IA; Kevin (Diana) Langreck, St. Lucas, IA and Terry Langreck, St. Lucas, IA. Sister: Colleen Mishak, St. Lucas, IA and brother-in-law Kelly Mishak, Nora Springs, IA. Nieces and nephews: James & Justin Langreck; KC (Dustin) Rosol and Emma (Matt) Marks. Great niece: Lila Lorainne Marks. Great nephews: Luke and Jasper He was preceded in death by his mother: Lila Langreck. Brother: Ivan Langreck.
