Floyd Herold, age 91 of Decorah, IA, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, IA. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 307 West Main St. in Decorah with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Church. The Schluter-Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Floyd Louis Herold was born on December 15, 1928 the son of Frank and Gertrude (Houdek) Herold on the family farm south of Spillville, IA. He attended country schools and then St. Wenceslaus Catholic School. Floyd married Connie Byram on December 27, 1951 in Protivin, IA. Together they farmed near Spillville for many years. They moved to Decorah in 1990. While living in Decorah, they mowed lawns, worked for Wapsie Produce and cleaned the extension office, apartments on Broadway and the fairgrounds. Floyd loved to fish and enjoyed taking trips to Okoboji. He also enjoyed his John Deere Tractors, hunting and playing cards. Floyd was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Parish in Decorah. Floyd is survived by his wife: Connie, Cresco, IA. Children: Dennis (Kay) Herold, Cresco, IA; Wendy (Daryl) Roney, Decorah, IA and Bonnie (Mark) Hackman, Decorah, IA. Grandchildren: Julie (Barry) Huebner, Kathy (Chuck) Malek, Sue (Dean) Miller, Chris (Barry) Dvorak, Jamey (Brittney Arrington) Herold, Kelley Herold, Jennifer (Lance) Tieskoetter, Jessica (Daniel Hochstetler) Roney, Derek (Ashley) Roney, Stephanie (Mason) Martin, John (Katie) Hackman. Twenty great grandchildren and twenty-four great-great grandchildren. Sisters-in-law: Miriam (Adolph) Humpal, Calmar, IA; Sally Byram, Escondido, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Son: Gary in 1987. Sister: Florine Klimesh-Elsbernd. Brothers-in-law: David (Jane) Byram and Ronald Byram.
