Floyd Edmund Gerleman, age 71, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 304 S. Maryville St., Calmar, Iowa, with Pastor Henry Huber presiding. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. This will be a combined service with his mother, Rita Gerleman.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Helms Funeral Homes/ French Chapel, 202 South Washington St., Calmar, Iowa. Also, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at St. Aloysius church on Thursday morning.
Floyd was born on September 20, 1954, to Paul and Rita (Kriener) Gerleman. He grew up in northeast Iowa and graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1972. He went on and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and a Master's in agriculture at Southwest Missouri State.
Floyd had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. He especially enjoyed woodworking, creating projects that reflected both patience and precision. In his free time, he loved watching football and cheering for his favorite teams, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Green Bay Packers.
Floyd is survived by his son, Garrett (Sarah) Gerleman of Kansas City, Missouri, and two cherished grandsons, Jack and Harvey Gerleman. He is also survived by his twin children, Samantha and Nick. He is survived by his siblings: Duane (Viola) Gerleman of Ridgeway; Kevin (Sharon) Gerleman of Cresco; Karen (Duane) Martin of Fayette; Loren (Stephanie) Gerleman of Winterset; Susan (Dean) Vrba of Fort Atkinson; and Bruce Gerleman of Calmar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, dad, Paul (2016), and mother, Rita, who recently passed on November 4th.
