The Funeral for Florence Headington has been postponed for today because of the weather, road conditions and travel concerns. The Funeral will now be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 26 at Burr Oak Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Florence M. Headington, age 90, of Decorah, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, February 20, 2019 at Wellington Place in Decorah. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 at Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, IA with Rev. Matt Larson officiating.  Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah in the spring. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, and on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m., one hour before the service, at Burr Oak Lutheran Church.    Florence Marilyn (Tollefsrud) Headington was born October 25, 1928, at home in Fillmore County north of Mabel, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Selma(Herbranson) Tollefsrud. She was baptized at Mabel First Lutheran Church and confirmed at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. Her mother died when she was six years old. Her Grandpa and Grandma Herbranson raised her. Florence went to the Rotvold School in Hesper Township. She then went to Decorah High School and graduated in 1947. She worked as a waitress and a store clerk at several places in Decorah. She was united in marriage to Milo J. Headington on October 29, 1950 at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with four children: Larry, Steve, Marilyn and Rosalyn.  Florence worked as a cook at North Winneshiek School. She was active in church and WELCA. She was a Sunday School teacher, 4-H Leader and volunteer at Wellington Place. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, a wonderful cook and baker. Florence enjoyed playing cards and loved dancing with Milo. Florence cherished her faith and raised her family in a Christian home. She was a true believer in the power of prayer. Spending time with Milo and her children and grandchildren were her most enjoyable times. She was always proud of her family and their accomplishments. She loved them dearly. Florence moved to Wellington Assisted Living in September 2014. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, George and Selma Tollefsrud; her in-laws James and Pheobe Headington; her husband, Milo on April 6, 2009; three brothers: Truman (Beth) Tollefsrud, Gilman (Irene) Tollefsrud and Charles (Lucille) Tollefsrud; four sisters: Donna (George) Kruse, LuVerne (Raymond) Hegland, Gloria (Bernie) Lind, Inga (Duane) Halverson; three brothers-in-law: Bob Armstrong, Richard Kemple, James Benjamin Headington; and four sisters-in-law: Nora (Walter) Sharp, Maythel Headington, Phoebe (Jim) Hensel and Gayle (Harold) Hartley. Florence is survived by her two sons: Larry (Dianne) Headington and Steve Headington; her two daughters: Marilyn Headington (Mark Hageman) and Rosalyn (Rusty) Samuelson; ten grandchildren: Nicole Tatum, Mark (Amanda) Headington, Paul Haugen, Lance Haugen, Kylene (Corey) Ellis, Cory Selig (Crystal Berk), Rachel Selig, Laura Selig, Reece Samuelson and Riley Samuelson; four great-grandchildren: Aubrie, Kaid, Kashton, and Trey; two sisters: Margaret Kemple of Rochester, MN and Delores Armstrong of West Plains, MO; and by many nieces and nephews.
