Evelyn Lentz, age 90, of Spillville, Iowa died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Wellington Place in Decorah, Iowa Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA Rev. Donald Hawes will be presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville, with a rosary at 5:00 p.m. There will also be visitation after 10:00 at the church on Tuesday. Evelyn Marie (Shimek) Lentz was born on December 19, 1920, the daughter of John and Mary (Baburek) Lentz on the family farm near Spillville, IA. She attended country school in the area. She married William Lentz on October 14, 1947, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA. Together they farmed west of Spillville for many years. Evelyn enjoyed her farm animals, fishing and gardening. She was a lifetime member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Evelyn became a resident of Wellington Place Nursing Home on November 6, 2009. Evelyn’s survivors include two sons: Tom (Becky) Lentz and Dan (Joan) Lentz both of rural Calmar, IA. One daughter: Catherine (Bill) Woods, The Dalles, OR. Three grandchildren: Patrick & Eric Lentz, and Amy (Leland) Oldham. Two great grandchildren: Parker and Nathan Oldham. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents: John and Mary (Baburek) Shimek. Her husband: William Lentz on February 21, 1999. Three brothers: Jim, Frank and Paul Shimek. Three sisters-in-law: Emma (Bill) Humpal, Caroline (Louis) Tupy, and Mathilda Lentz.
