Evelyn M. Green

Evelyn M. Green, age 93, of Decorah, Iowa, died Saturday morning, June 21, 2014 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah. A private family graveside service will be held on July 2, 2014. Evelyn Margery Green was born July 7, 1920 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Nels and Ruby (Anderson) Haugen, and was the middle child of three. She graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1938. Evelyn was united in marriage to Roy Herbert Green on June 7, 1940 in West Union, Iowa. To this union, three children were born: Richard, Dennis and Nancy. She worked many years for the J.C. Penny Company. She was a lifelong member of Decorah Lutheran Church. She enjoyed golf and card playing, and was a member of Silvercrest Golf and Country Club for close to forty years. Evelyn had been a resident of the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah since 2009. Evelyn is survived by one brother, Robert Haugen of Dayton, Nevada; three children: Richard Green, Dennis (Ruth) Green and Nancy (John) Juve, all of Decorah; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Ruby Haugen, her husband Roy Green on December 29, 2003, and one sister, Arlene Grimm.
